Cuba
On March 20, the Government of Cuba announced the closure of its borders to non-Cuban citizens. On April 2, the Cuban government suspended the arrival and departure of all international flights. The suspension has been extended until August 1, 2020.
Havana, Cuba—Capital city is Havana, roughly 2 hours from Varadero. Lots of history here, well worth the visit. Varadero is by far the main tourist area, It’s like stepping back in time here, lots of antique cars on the road, old style architecture everywhere, especially in Havana. The country is very poor but surprisingly Cuba is one of the safest destinations you can go. Very little crime as the government’s strict rules & regulations act as a deterrent. Crimes against tourists are not looked on favorably and punishment is harsh. The people are wonderful and are very friendly and eager to please. Spanish is the local language but many of the resort staff is able to speak English very well. The food here is generally below average as the economic situation does not allow for favorable importing of goods.

Capital city is Havana, roughly 2 hours from Varadero. Lots of history here, well worth the visit. Varadero is by far the main tourist area, although there are many resorts in Cayo Coco & Cayo Santa Maria as well. The Adult Only Royalton Hicacos Varadero is really the only resort I would recommend with 100% confidence. Varadero has AMAZING beaches, some of the nicest you will ever see. The sand is white, soft and to my knowledge they have very little in the form of seaweed issues. The water color rivals that of the Bahamas & Turks & Caicos. Although US travel is tough with many stipulations & conditions having to be adhered to, it is possible, especially out of Canada. Cuban Custom officers will often times stamp a separate piece of paper, not your US Passport. The food here is generally below average as the economic situation does not allow for favorable importing of goods, yet the Royalton Hicacos somehow is able to overcome this as food here is very good. Keep in mind that a 5 star, like the Royalton in Cuba, would be considered a strong 4 elsewhere in the Caribbean. For clients looking for world class beaches, lots of history & character and extremely competitive rates, I would highly recommend.
