HOW MUCH DOES A DESTINATION WEDDING REALLY COST?
Destination wedding budgets can vary dramatically because no two weddings are exactly alike.
Guest count, décor, flowers, entertainment, lighting, upgraded furniture, private events and even your choice of resort can all impact the final cost.
During this Lunchtime Live episode, the BAI team discusses a real situation involving a couple looking at a destination wedding for approximately 90 guests. The resort's wedding package started around $12,000 and included up to 80 guests, but the couple was initially told weddings of their size could typically cost between $60,000 and $90,000—before the resort had even learned what they wanted their wedding to look like.
That's an enormous difference, and it's exactly why couples should understand the difference between a starting wedding package price and a customized wedding proposal.
A resort shouldn't necessarily be judged by one number alone.
DESTINATION WEDDING PACKAGE PRICES ARE ONLY THE BEGINNING
Most all-inclusive resorts offer wedding packages that include a collection of ceremony and reception essentials.

In the podcast, James and Julia discuss another real wedding example at Dreams Playa Mujeres involving 89 guests. That couple incorporated several upgrades—including lighting, a dance floor and specialty elements—and their overall wedding total was still approximately $34,000.
The point isn't that every 89-person wedding will cost $34,000. It won't.
The point is that destination wedding pricing is highly customizable, which makes blanket estimates difficult and sometimes misleading.
CAN YOU PLAN AN AFFORDABLE DESTINATION WEDDING?
Absolutely—but resort selection matters.
During the episode, James and Julia also discuss a couple hoping to host a destination wedding for approximately 75 to 100 guests with a wedding budget around $15,000. Rather than immediately treating that budget as impossible, the conversation turns toward finding resorts and wedding programs where the package inclusions and group incentives provide the most value.

If staying within a certain budget is your biggest priority, look for resorts that offer strong wedding packages and valuable room block incentives.
