Belize
BZE-There are no true all-inclusive resorts in Belize to speak of (there are a couple, but they aren’t TA friendly & they aren’t fully all inclusive like our preferred partner resorts). Belize is for the adventure client who loves to dive (the Blue Hole), snorkel, hike, enjoys archaeological sites & wildlife (birds, jaguars, jungles). Ambergris Caye & Placencia- know these two destinations as that’s where everyone wants to go.
Resorts
• Moderate: Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina is situated next to the Fort George Marina and its dive shop. The Belize City cruise dock is a four-minute walk away. Room décor is outdated. The 102 rooms come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, and many have balconies and plush Sleep Number beds. The Radisson offers two outdoor pools, a poolside bar and restaurant, a full-service spa, a seafood restaurant, and tavern
• Moderate: Mata Rocks Resort is a mid-range property located on the southern end of Ambergris Caye, about a 10-minute golf cart ride from San Pedro Town. The hotel has 17 rooms with simple, beachy decor and a tiny pool that overlooks the ocean. Its beach is marred by the piles of seaweed that wash up on shore, though travelers will notice this everywhere on the island. Mata Rocks offers free continental breakfast, free bikes, and free Wi-Fi, but there isn’t much to see or do in the immediate area surrounding the hotel.
• Luxury: Mahogany Bay by Hilton Curio - favorite hotel seen by most CX’ers. Timeshare property. Not beach front. Great for families, they offer continental breakfast. Private island 15 min boat ride. There is a 8000 Sq. Ft. Great house largest wooden structure in Belize. Great private beach club island, no seaweed, more upscale , clear water good vibe and included. The resort is not located on the beach.
• Moderate: Grand Colony Island Villas- 13 villas. The seaweed is strong here. Overall a beautiful property but be careful about the seaweed smell.
• Moderate- Portofino Beach Resort- 6 miles north of San Pedro , accessible only by boat. Small boutique resort with only 17 suites. Transfers from San Pedro are included. A half mile away from the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. All accommodations are steps away from the beach
• Moderate: San Ignacio Resort Hotel is a Belizean and family-owned boutique Hotel located in the Cayo District, Western Belize. The Resort is centrally situated on a 17-acre private estate and 5-minutes away of the popular San Ignacio Town. This characteristic has dubbed the Resort as “the only jungle in town”. The 27-room Resort is renowned for its hospitality services and features the award-winning Running W Restaurant (which showcases meats from the family’s ranch), an on-site tour company (Cayo Gial Tours), in-room wellness treatments, an outdoor swimming pool and tennis court area, the largest event facilities in the District.
• Upper Moderate: Umaya Resort & Adventures Just north of the tiny town of Placencia, offers a reliable list of resort-style amenities in a chic, modern package. is a beautiful full-service deluxe resort located on a 78-mile peninsula in the southern part of Belize on Maya beach. The resort has rooms overlooking the peaceful lagoon and distant Mayan mountains or overlooking the blue Caribbean Sea. With a lovely pool and swim-up bar, an open-air beachfront restaurant, and a lagoon-side spa, guests seeking a proper Caribbean vacation will want for little. Each of the 60 large, apartment-style suites has a sharp, modern finish and include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite TVs, full kitchens, and private water-view balconies.
• Luxury: Robert's Grove Beach Resort is a laid-back property on Placencia Peninsula. The range of amenities is extensive, including a professional dive shop, marina (slips are available), spa, three restaurants, three outdoor ocean-view pools, and tours galore from an impressive fleet of boats. The pretty beach offers free water sports; guests can also jump off the end of the swimming pier or grab drinks at the palapa bar. The rooms have patios and basic Guatemalan- and Mexican-inspired decor (some also have kitchenettes). 52 room resort.
• Luxury: Las Terrazas Resort and Residences feels more South Beach than San Pedro with its sleek pool, free welcome massages, and sophisticated beach vibe. Its 39 air-conditioned rooms -- many with ocean views -- are decorated in blacks and browns with granite-countered kitchens and king-size poster beds. The saltwater infinity pool is a big plus, considering the beach isn’t great for swimming due to sea grass. A poolside bar has happy hour specials and a weekly rum tasting, for a fee, and freebies include kayaks, Hobie cats, and stand-up paddleboards. Fishing gear can be rented and the resort’s tasty, attractive restaurant will clean and prepare your catch.
• Luxury: Victoria House is one of Ambergris Caye’s more romantic options, with its tropical seaside grounds, sophisticated vibe, and colonial styling. Its 42 rooms and villas mix traditional details with modern touches like flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and glass-brick showers. However, it's worth noting that State Rooms can be loud and small, and some rooms lack TVs. There are two pools, including a sleek infinity option, which is helpful as the sea here is unswimmable with sea grass, a common problem in the region. The bar's happy hours are a big plus, and the hotel's freebies include kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and bicycles.
• Budget- Xtan Ha Resort- Farther away, Quiet, Seafront-nice view, good for honeymooners, Rooms dated, European plan
• Banyan Bay- Property has a great deck / bar - great venue for groups, great beach, has designated smoking areas, 5 minutes from the airport, complimentary taxi transfer, non-smoking hotel
Adults Only Resorts:
• Luxury: Matachica Resort & Spa arguably the swankiest resort on Ambergris Caye, excels at combining Belizean charm with modern opulence. Its 27 individual thatched-roof casitas are painted in eye-popping hues and feature romantic elements like canopied beds and two-person hammocks. Grounds are meticulously kept, but still maintain a laid-back island vibe thanks to sandy pathways and open-air buildings. All-inclusive rates are available, and top-notch amenities include a stunning mosaic tile pool, a beautifully maintained beach, and an excellent on-site bar and restaurant, but the lackluster spa and tiny fitness center fall flat. Matachica is located five miles north of San Pedro town on Ambergris Caye, which is a bit far for travelers who anticipate spending a lot of time in town.
• Moderate: Costa Blu Dive & Beach Resort is a homey seaside property on Ambergris Caye’s north shore. Its 36 one-bedroom suites have at least partial ocean views and pleasantly bright interiors, with modern wicker furniture, large flat-screen TVs, and kitchenettes. However, they are poorly soundproofed. The thatch-roofed bar has great waterfront views and the adjacent restaurant serves tasty international cuisine. There’s no swimmable beach, but the freshwater, zero-entry pool is usually uncrowded and has a walk-up bar. Freebies include stand-up paddleboards and kayaks plus round-trip airport transportation. Getting to San Pedro is a trek and visitors looking for a resort closer to the action with (generally) modern rooms, full kitchens, and more hotel amenities should consider the condos at Captain Morgan’s Retreat.
• Budget: Captain Morgan’s Retreat- located in north Ambergris Caye, 1,2 and 3 BR units, Cabana rooms on the beach, only resort with a casino on property, No meal plans offered, they have fully stocked kitchens, pier with boat shuttle 1 min away, complimentary snorkeling, kayaks, bicycles.
